This repaint is dedicated to the memory of RAF Lightning "XN728"
and to try to raise awareness of it's terrible plight of a once great
aircraft. In her time she was a valiant defender of cold war airspace
often rising to the challenge of an aggressive nation infringing ever
closer to British airspace in a constant game of "Cat and Mouse".
How have we rewarded this guardian of our skies?
Maybe she sits in a museum being proundly looked after by a team
dedicated people and presented for all to view this amazing aircraft!
Maybe a select group of enthusiasts have aquired her and intend to
return her to the sky with an amazing restoration plan, to put her
where she belongs!
Or just maybe she now stands alone rusting and being defaced on
waste ground no one cares for or no one looks at.
I would like to thank Kazunori Ito for taking great time and care in
creating a very nice model and hope that in some way this repaint
will raise a small amount of interest in what was once a great and
pround aircraft.
